Evelyn is said to bare great resemblance to her distant uncle, Edward Cullen, and on many occasions, is often mistaken for being a twin or sibling of his. She is also said to bare somewhat of a remarkable resemblance towards Elizabeth Masen, as her uncanny resemblance towards Elizabeth was what startled Edward the first time he saw Evelyn.

She has the same green eyes that Edward had when he was human, however her eyes have changed to crimson after turning into a vampire, before slowly turning to a golden brown after adapting to the animal diet. She has pale skin, full even lips, a straight nose, a dimple smile, high cheek bones and a strong jawline. She has the same thick bronze hair that Edward does, however her hair is a shade darker. Her hair runs down in soft curls against her back.

When Evelyn becomes a vampire, her physical appearance goes through some dramatic changes. Her already fair skin becomes even more paler, and quite cold to the touch, which makes her hair appear much darker than it naturally is. As a vampire, her appearance changes if she goes long without feeding: her eyes darken, becoming onyx black, and purple bruise-like shadows appear beneath her eyes. Evelyn stands at 5'8, and has a slim body. She remains frozen physically at 17 - the same age as Edward.

In the book, The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, Bree assumes Evelyn is the twin of the "redhead mind reader" as she never knew his and her name.

In Breaking Dawn, when Renesmee is born, she is continuously commented to look, if not exactly, like her "cousin", Evelyn.

Evelyn: "They ask me where people are, and I find them."
Bella: "You find them? Anywhere in the world?"
Evelyn: "Yeah, I just think about them, and then I know exactly where they are."
Evelyn discusses her ability with Bella
